Intermediate Controls Engineer

Job Description:

We are currently searching for an Intermediate Controls Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and growing company with a great atmosphere.

Role:

  • Work as part of an engineering team to deliver projects within the agreed schedules and budgets
  • Guide control system designs of various custom machines and robot cells
  • PLC Programming and HMI development
  • Participate in both internal and external project meetings with the engineering teams, clients and suppliers
  • Work collaboratively as part of an integrated group
  • Site commissioning and installation support
  • Travel to client facilities when required for the project
  • Design, develop, and review electrical and controls (IEC) engineering drawings, specifications and documents in line with national and international standards such as CSA & IEEE
  • Troubleshooting of electrical, PLC, and HMI systems
  • Prepare and review datasheets and/or procurement packages for electrical, control and instrumentation equipment
  • Liaise with vendors, select and oversee purchase of electrical, instrumentation and control components
  • Assist in preparing project documents such as scopes, schedules and reports

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of PLC platforms (Rockwell & Siemens) is desirable
  • Knowledge of HMI/SCADA platforms (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, WinCC) is desirable
  • Robot Programming (Kuka, ABB, FANUC) and experience with robotic cells is an asset
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with industrial environments and production processes is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • BSc in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or a similar undergraduate degree
