Tecnologías COBRA, a division of The EPCM Group, earned recognition from two leaders in the mining industry for putting the safety of workers first.
In May 2021, Codelco awarded COBRA the Safety Culture & Practices Award, recognizing the outstanding health and safety innovations that COBRA has implemented at Codelco’s Radomiro Tomic Mine in northern Chile. In addition to the award, Codelco gave special recognition to Pablo Caballero, the head of Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) at COBRA, for his outstanding leadership in worker health and safety.
COBRA also received the Sustainability Award in May 2021 for achieving historic results in health and safety at BHP Minera Escondida.
BHP Minera Escondida President Mauro Neves explained the profound impact of COBRA’s work at the site: “We’ve reached historic results at Escondida. Almost a year without any injury, and even more significantly, we have attained the lowest Injury Frequency Incident Rate since 2007.”
These remarkable improvements, Neves said, “would never have been achieved if it weren’t for working with contractors like COBRA”.
“Receiving awards for health and safety innovations is validation that EPCM’s commitment to safety ultimately benefits everyone”, said EPCM President & CEO, John Jickling.
“We’re thrilled to play a key role in helping keep people safe while also helping companies become more productive and successful in the process,” Jickling added.
